As Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educators we have developed a complete childbirth education program that encompasses all the information you need to be able to transition through pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period with ease and with great anticipation for this journey ahead. Lamaze has a long standing reputation as one of the leaders in childbirth education in working with families and has aided millions of pregnant women achieve their desired childbirth outcomes using Lamaze practices.
The Lamaze classes incorporate the 6 healthy birth practices:
- Let labor begin on its own
- Walk, move around and change positions throughout labor
- Bring a loved one, friend or doula for continuous support
- Avoid interventions that are not medically necessary
- Avoid giving birth on your back and follow your body’s urges to push
- Keep mother and baby together – It’s best for mother, baby and breastfeeding
Lamaze Group Childbirth Education Classes run on 2 consecutive Saturdays with our next classes booked for
August 4th and 11th from 10am-5pm.
Group classes are a wonderful way to interact, engage and learn from other expectant families within a comfortable and supported environment.
The Lamaze Childbirth Education Classes are led by a Lamaze® Certified Childbirth Educator Katie Allen Katie Allen Lamaze Childbirth Educator & Moran Liviani 2Life Doula
We will prepare you in an interactive, engaging and comfortable way for pregnancy, birth and postpartum.
- 2-3 Antenatal visits that will explore your needs and desires for birth, help your partner to prepare for his role in the birth, and provide you both with essential tools for labor and the birth of your baby. These visits also enable you to be comfortable with me so that I can know your needs, your fears and to create a good level of comfort and trust.
- Sessions will also include discussing your fears coming up to the birth, relaxation techniques, active birth positions and any questions or concerns you might have. These sessions will be held in the convenience of your home.
- We will have a session to prepare your birth plan which will outline what your preferences are for your birth and what choices are available to you.
- I will provide you with unlimited support during labour. I will come to you at any stage at which you feel you need me throughout your birth and stay with you till the very end no matter how long it takes and even beyond as I will be there for a couple of hours after your little one is born.
- I will take pictures of the birth if you so wish for me to do so.
- Access to my lending library of books and movies for resources about pregnancy, birth and baby care to enhance your learning.
- I will be on call for your births from 38 weeks and contactable 24/7.
- I will provide continuous physical, emotional, and informational support for you and your partner throughout pregnancy and the duration of labour, to aid you in achieving the birth outcome you desire.
- I will come and visit you for a postpartum follow-up visit to debrief your baby’s birth, discuss any concerns or questions you might have.
- Throughout your pregnancy and after your birth I will be available to you via telephone, email and skype consultation.
- I will provide you with a contact for a second experienced doula available as back up in case of illness.
- I will provide all Doula services as outlined in ‘package 1’ as well as provide you with HypnoBirthing® – The Mongan method classes
You will be provided with your own copy of the 302-page HypnoBirthing Text, HypnoBirthing– The Mongan Method - 5 information-packed class meetings, helping you to understand why labor doesn’t have to hurt
- Written scripts for your home practice
- 2 CDs for your relaxation, stress reduction, and bonding (Including the program cornerstone disk, Rainbow Relaxation)
- Handouts for planning your Birth Preferences
- A set of Birth Prompts for your birth Companion
- Demonstration and practice in optimal birth positions
- Several deep relaxation techniques for use during birthing, plus well-paced instruction designed to build your confidence and help you to have a safer, easier, and more comfortable birthing
- Special calm breathing methods for use throughout labor and during birthing
The Lamaze Childbirth Education is one of the most accredited evidence based childbirth education program:
Topics outlined in the program are:
- The hormones of labour
- How to ward off fear and anxiety during birth
- Relaxation and mindfulness practices
- Prenatal & Postpartum nutrition
- The normal, natural process of labour and birth, and health-care practices that support it
- The rights of childbearing woman
- The important role that pain plays in labour and a wide variety of coping strategies for managing it
- How your partner can support you during labour
- Movement and positioning during labour and birth
- Medical interventions and their indications, risks and alternatives and help you make your own birth preferences
- How to communicate with your healthcare provider
- Breastfeeding
- Postpartum expectations and self care
- Local resources to support you during and after pregnancy

A folder for all your materials throughout the course and handouts on all the related topics to review at home
A relaxation cd for your home practice
Birth videos and movies to watch at home on your USB
I have teamed up with a lovely Postpartum Doula, Caitlin Dyer from Mother Down Under that can provide meals in her one postpartum visit with you in your home. You can choose to have this as an add on to your Doula package with me and then I sort out all the rest.
As a postpartum doula, a big part of what Caitlin does is intentionally nourishing the mother…and the best way to this is through food and rest!
Rest is so important in the short term but nutritious food helps sustain a new mother and keeps her feeling calm and capable in the long run.
This package includes a two hour in home session with Caitlin and foods that are cooked with love and care and with your needs in mind!
These in home visits are designed to support you while you learn to love, feed, and parent your new baby.
Sessions may include a combination of a birth debrief, breastfeeding support, guidance on sleeping and settling, oxytocin boosting relaxation techniques, or chatting about anything that is worrying you. You may also want to simply hand your baby over to Caitlin, take a long bath or a hot shower, and hop into bed for some much needed and much deserve rest! While you sleep she is happy to help with light household chores, play with siblings, or take the dog for a walk.
And while you may be done growing a baby, you are still nourishing a baby…and so you need to nourish yourself. Postpartum bodies need very specific nutrients. So when Caitlin comes to see you she will bring a week’s worth of homemade meals with her…you choose one from each of the categories in the attached menu (so one breakfast, one main, one snack).
What if you could have a clear understanding about the choices and alternatives that are possible for your labour and birth? Have you read the books and taken the classes but still feel like you need more information? Do you need personalized guidance and tips for how to rock YOUR birth? I offer birth plan consultations to women and couples who might not be ready to hire a doula but want an experienced labour support person to guide them through their choices for birth or to help them prepare for the realities of labour, birth and having a new baby.
With your birth consultation, you can feel confident in your ability to handle the flow of your labour and birth while having a clear idea of your preferences. You will be prepared for any challenges that may arise, by having discussed and prepared for the different scenarios you might be presented with. I can help you with techniques for coping with pain and having a natural birth and if you want to know what you’ll be “allowed” to do at your chosen birth place, we can discuss the protocols and interventions that may arise.

A Mother Blessing differs from a baby shower in that it focuses on the woman and her transformation into mother in a deeper way than at a party with a showering of gifts. Gifts may be included, but instead of practical items or pretty clothing, gifts are symbolic or carry special meaning, such as an heirloom being passed down, or the gift of a poem being read. A woman may have a traditional baby shower and also savor the ritual of a blessingway. These ceremonies welcome and honor a woman as she enters this new transformational time in her life.
I will provide materials for your chosen rituals – for stringing your Blessing necklace or bracelet (guests provide the beads), materials for belly painting, footbath ingredients, some decoration for the Blessing Circle, ceremony candle etc. If you wish to do a belly cast there will be an additional fee for extra materials.

I offer an instalment payment scheme for all 2Life packages. You can pay up to 5 instalments from the time you sign up to the time you are 35 weeks pregnant.
An additional cost to travel may be charged. (this is a small cost just to cover the petrol). You will be notified at time of booking.
