Birth Doula

2LIFE DOULA SUPPORT

“There is ample research on the benefits of doulas at births. (Hodnett, 2013) When the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM) released their groundbreaking “Safe Prevention of the Primary Cesarean Delivery” Obstetric Care Consensus Statement in February 2014, one of their key recommendations to reduce the primary cesarean rate in the USA was the continuous presence of a doula at a birth. (Caughey, 2014)”

DOULA SUPPORT

A birth doula is a person trained and experienced in childbirth who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after childbirth.
The word “doula” comes from ancient Greek, meaning “Woman’s servant”. Throughout history and in much of the world today, a cadre of women support a woman through labor and birth, giving back rubs and providing continuous emotional support.

A doula provides support and uninterrupted care for a woman in labour. I meet with the mother and her partner a few times before the birth. I will be in contact with you during early labor and will come and be with you when your labour has started establishing into active labour. I will accompany both you and your partner throughout labor and delivery. I will provide physical and emotional support, comfort and pain-coping measures, encouragement, and aid your partner in being able to support you to the best of his ability. I will advocate for the mother and her partner and help them make informed decisions. After the birth, I will visit you at your home or hospital to see if you need to debrief the birth or aid you with any resources you may need during the postpartum period.

I deeply understand, trust, and respect the process of labour and birth. My goal is to support the emotional and physical journey of the mother and her partner. At all times I strive to provide the best possible experience for the family that I am supporting and ease their transition into parenthood.

DOULA Duo

a shared-care approach to doula support!

How It Works: As a pair we work together to make sure you are fully supported while doing this whole pregnancy, birth, and parenthood thing! You’ll attend either Moran’s HypnoBirthing or Birth Boot Camp classes to get comprehensive prenatal childbirth education which will give you all the ‘tools’ to prepare for your birth or choose the package to do 2 private prenatal sessions with us. Either way you will get at least one private session with us so we can get to know you on a personal level and you can get better acquainted with us and how we work together in supporting you. We will also go through your birth preferences with you so that we can understand your wants and needs for the birth and talk through anything you need to feel fully prepared before the big day! You will then be linked to a group chat with the both of us to be able to ask as many questions as you need and be guided along the way. For the birth itself we work on a rotating on-call schedule which allows us to share the care, and be the best Doulas we can be! This helps us to stay rested, pick from each others wisdom & experiences, and it helps us to avoid burn-out & tend to our own growing families & all the other things life can bring!

About Us: We have teamed up together as we both have years of experience working with women and families in the birth world and we are very similar in the way we support expectant families. Our ethos is very much aligned and our mantra remains that we are here to guide you on this journey in whatever manner you choose to birth as our intention is to be able to provide you with evidence based information, attentiveness, care, knowledge, physical and emotional support so you can have a positive birthing experience. We both come with different experiences, trainings, and backgrounds; so we end up filling in each other’s gaps & complimenting each other perfectly! We both believe in being REAL. It’s super important that both of you feel comfortable with both of us. We’re pretty easy-going people & like to joke and have fun, but we also know when it’s important to slow it down, listen, and meet you right where you’re at.
